Millions of women are thought to suffer from urinary incontinence (the uncontrollable passing of urine) and it can be an embarrassing problem to have. There are a variety of kinds of incontinence including stress incontinence, urge incontinence, overflow incontinence and total incontinence. It is also possible to have a mixture of these kinds of incontinence.
Women are more likely to suffer from urinary incontinence than men. There area a variety of factors which may cause urinary incontinence including weak or overactive bladder muscles, nerve damage, pregnancy, childbirth and the menopause. Incontinence in women is common and treatable.
Incontinence pads and pants should be regularly changed for hygiene reasons and to protect your skin. Women's Incontinence Products: Frequently Asked Questions
Liners are for light leaks, pads for moderate to heavy leaks, and pants replace your underwear altogether. All three are commonly called incontinence pads for women, which is why the range can look confusing at first. A liner such as TENA Lady Light Sensitive holds 50 to 99ml and is 15cm long. A shaped pad such as TENA Lady Discreet Extra holds 450 to 599ml and is 31cm long. Pull-up pants such as TENA Silhouette Plus hold 1,300 to 1,699ml and pull on like ordinary underwear.
Match the absorbency to your heaviest leak rather than your average one, then step down a level if the pad is never close to full. Within the TENA Lady range the ladder runs from 50 to 99ml for a light liner, 300 to 449ml for Discreet Normal, 450 to 599ml for Discreet Extra, 600 to 799ml for Extra Plus, and 800 to 999ml for Maxi. Every product page on this site publishes its absorbency in ml. Manufacturers measure absorbency using their own test methods, so compare figures within a brand rather than between brands.
Yes, but use a pad designed for night-time rather than a daytime pad at a higher absorbency, because the shape differs as well as the capacity. TENA Lady Discreet Protect+ Maxi Night holds 800 to 999ml and is 39.4cm long, with extra length and width at the back to protect you while lying down. For heavier overnight leakage, pull-up pants such as Depend Comfort Protect hold 1,360ml and are designed for up to 12 hours of wear. Change before bed and again on waking.
Pull-up pants are sized by hip or waist measurement, and every product page lists the range that product fits. Depend Comfort Protect Pants for Women in Large, for example, fit a 95 to 130cm measurement. Pads and liners are one size and need no measuring. Pants come in Small/Medium, Medium, Large and Extra Large; a pant that is too big will leak around the leg, and one that is too small will be uncomfortable. Yes. The thinnest liner we stock is 3mm thick and 15cm long, and is not visible under normal clothing. That is TENA Lady Light Sensitive Liner, which still holds 50 to 99ml, considerably more than an ordinary panty liner. TENA Lady Discreet pads are individually wrapped, so you can carry a spare in a handbag or pocket without it being obvious. TENA Silhouette Plus pants are cut like high-waisted underwear and are made with 30% less bulk than the previous version.
Change a pad every 3 to 4 hours for light to moderate leakage, and every 2 to 3 hours for heavier leakage. Change it sooner if it feels damp or uncomfortable. A pad that still feels dry should be changed at least every 8 hours to protect the skin. Most people managing urinary incontinence change 4 to 6 times a day.

Yes. Every order ships in plain, unbranded outer packaging with no reference to the product type on the label. There is nothing on the box or the courier manifest that identifies the contents. Next day delivery is £3.29 and two to three day delivery is £5.49, with delivery free on orders over £100. Orders placed before 4pm Monday to Friday are dispatched the same day, and deliveries run Monday to Saturday between 7am and 10pm.
