Millions of women are thought to suffer from urinary incontinence (the uncontrollable passing of urine) and it can be an embarrassing problem to have. There are a variety of kinds of incontinence including stress incontinence, urge incontinence, overflow incontinence and total incontinence. It is also possible to have a mixture of these kinds of incontinence.
Women are more likely to suffer from urinary incontinence than men. There area a variety of factors which may cause urinary incontinence including weak or overactive bladder muscles, nerve damage, pregnancy, childbirth and the menopause. Incontinence in women is common and treatable.
Incontinence pads and pants should be regularly changed for hygiene reasons and to protect your skin. Incontinence products are changed between 4-6 times per day on average and should also be changed when they feel wet.
