Pads are worn inside your own underwear; pants replace your underwear entirely. Pads, also sold as shields, guards or protectors, are shaped to cup the male body and hold in place with an adhesive strip, which suits light to moderate leakage. Pants pull on like ordinary briefs and give coverage all the way round, which suits heavier leakage, night-time use or reduced mobility. Most men managing light daytime leaks start with a pad.
Match the absorbency to your heaviest leak, not your average one. TENA Men Active Fit Level 2 holds 450ml and covers light to medium daytime leakage. Attends Men Level 4 Protective Shield holds 714ml for moderate leakage, and Attends Men Discreet 3 Protective Underwear holds 900ml. Absorbency figures are set by each manufacturer using their own test method, so treat them as a guide within a brand rather than a direct comparison between brands. If you are between levels, size up for night-time and down for daytime.
Yes. The slimmest pads we stock are 4mm thick and are not visible under normal clothing. TENA Men Active Fit Level 2 is 4mm; the higher-absorbency Level 3 is 10mm. Pads are cup-shaped to follow the body rather than bunch, and each is individually wrapped so you can carry a spare in a pocket without it being obvious. Pants are cut like ordinary briefs.
We stock eight brands for men: TENA, Attends, Depend, iD, MoliCare, ALIA, Sunkiss and our own Easy Care Solutions range. TENA and Attends cover the widest absorbency span, from light shields through to protective underwear. ALIA and Easy Care Solutions are the value ranges and give the lowest cost per unit. Every product on this page is shaped for male anatomy rather than adapted from a unisex design.
Change a pad every 3 to 4 hours for light to moderate leakage, and every 2 to 3 hours for heavier leakage. Change it sooner if it feels damp or uncomfortable. A pad that still feels dry should be changed at least every 8 hours to protect the skin. Change before bed and again on waking, and use a higher absorbency overnight so you are not getting up to change during the night.
Yes. Most products on this page come in multipacks of 3, 6 or 12 packs, which cut the cost per unit. A single pack of 20 ALIA Men Super Protective Pads is £3.99, or about 20p a pad. The 120-unit multipack is £14.39, which works out at about 12p a pad. Subscribe & Save takes up to a further 10% off repeat orders and delivers automatically on a schedule you set.
